Alfia Khaibullina   Alfia Khaibullina is Sun & Moon certified. She believes that life's challenges can be overcome by positive attitude, which she tries to cultivate in her teaching. Her classes are both challenging and fun.
Amir Tahami   Amir works attentively with students who want an enhanced quality of life through a plainspoken and sensible approach to health and well being. Amir uses innovative techniques in teaching students to help bring mindfulness into their yoga practice and daily life. He holds Yoga Alliances highest certification level and is also a practitioner of Thai Yoga Therapy.
Anna Mikheeva   Anna Mikheeva has been practicing Yoga for eighteen years and holds a 700-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Certification from Surya Chandra Healing Yoga School, a Yoga Therapy school in the Krishnamacharya tradition. Anna also has a Pilates Mat certification. As a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and a Yoga Alliance Registered teacher at the 500 level, her goal is to help her students discover the joy of every movement and breath.
Anne Jablonski   Anne teaches a playful, openhearted style of yoga, blending what's most appropriate in the moment with what she's learned from her own practice and the eclectic array of teachers with whom she's studied. She views meditation as the soul of yoga and encourages students toward a creative, alignment-savvy practice that erases the tight spots, stills the mind's chatter, cultivates joy, and keeps their own practice fresh and compelling.
Annette Hyde   Annette Hyde is a Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Teacher (RYT 500, E-RYT 200) and has been teaching since 2001. She completed The Health Advantage Yoga Center Teacher Training Program in 2004 and Asheville Yoga Center’s 500-hour Advanced Teacher Training Program in 2012. Annette earned Certificates of Completion in the Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors Teacher Training in 2009 and the Yoga of Awareness for Cancer Teacher Training in 2010 from Duke Integrative Medicine. She believes yoga is a continuous journey that opens the mind, strengthens the body, and frees the spirit to take on life’s opportunities and obstacles.
Annie Moyer   Annie Moyer conveys the authenticity and beauty of yoga in an accessible and inviting way. She is firmly grounded in alignment principles and an avid fan of yoga philosophy; classes are moderately paced, light-hearted and friendly – lessons in yoga, perhaps lessons in life. Always open to questions, she is able to tailor classes to students’ needs, and encourages acceptance of each moment as a necessary step along the path of well-being.
Asya Haikin   Asya Haikin enjoys teaching dynamic classes, focusing on clear alignment instructions, and aspires to share the inner balance that yoga brings to her life. She is a graduate of Sun & Moon's advanced teacher training program.
Azure Lea   Azure (formerly Tarey) is certified through Sun & Moon. She loves working with kids and considers people of most any age in that category. Her hope is that through yoga we connect with the joy inside of us and that we delight on the journey there.
Beth Ebner   Beth Ebner began practicing yoga more than 12 years ago. She loves the benefits of yoga: balance, relaxation and alignment. Her diverse yogic background gives a rich and eclectic quality to her teaching.
Carol Confino   Carol Confino has completed the teacher training program at Sun & Moon and is an RYT-300. Her practice and teaching are about finding a place of peace within and becoming comfortable with yourself. She encourages students to be patient with themselves and practice without self-judgment.
Carol Stehl   Carol aspires to convey to students the treasures of self-awareness, inner balance, and healing she has found through yoga. The body-mind-spirit connection is an integral part of her teaching, with particular emphasis on the breath as the connector. Carol has been practicing and studying yoga under a rich and eclectic variety of teachers since 1999, and holds an advanced certification through Sun & Moon's 500-hour, Yoga Alliance registered teacher training school.
Carole Rodero   Carole Rodero began her practice in the 1970's. She has been teaching since 2007. Her teaching style is nurturing and reflects a belief in the benefits of finding physical, mental and emotional ease in every pose. She teaches with humor and gentleness. She hopes to impart her love of yoga to every student she encounters.
Charlotte Raich   Charlotte Raich loves to share the joy of yoga with her students. She incorporates the healing qualities of yoga for the body, mind and soul into her classes through asana, pranayama and relaxation. She hopes that people will leave her classes feeling nurtured, calm, and perhaps even better than they did when they started. She is currently studying to be a physical therapist and combines the therapeutic qualities of yoga into her classes that she teaches.
Christie Zepeda   Christie’s very first Yoga class over 7 years ago was in the basement of a DC gym by an instructor barking poses like a drill sergeant commanding a unit. “You should be deeper in your down dog by now!” Ever since completing her Yoga Teacher 200 Hr Certification with Sun & Moon Yoga Studio, Christie took a personal vow to create an environment for her students that encourages individual acceptance and authenticity. Christie brings a warm, honest and fun air to her teaching; encouraging her students to challenge yet respect and learn from themselves both on and off the mat. There is emphasis on technique, breath and personal adjustments all the while enjoying the meditative and stress relieving benefits of yoga.
Cindy Arnn   Cindy has been practicing yoga at Sun & Moon since 2007 and graduated from the In-Depth program in 2011. Spirituality and contemplative practices have been an integral part of her life from an early age. Cindy is particularly interested in restorative yoga and mindfulness meditation. Her approach is relaxed and open, and she enjoys getting to know her students and learning with and from them.
Cynthia Lim   Cynthia Lim emphasizes breath awareness as well as improving alignment and posture in one daily life through the practice of yoga.
Cynthia Maltenfort   Cynthia has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. She is certified through the Sun & Moon and Radiant Child teacher training programs. She has been the Creative Movement Specialist at the JCCNV for 8 years and has been teaching at Sun and Moon for 6 years. Cynthia incorporates many styles and techniques in a fun in a loving environment. Yoga is a gift for all ages and all abilities. I love the creative challenge of bringing yoga to anyone that is interested. Where there is a will there is a way and I am honored to share the journey of yoga and life.
Dana Cook   Dana has practiced yoga since the late 1990's, and her children have been yogis since they were babies. Before having children she was a special education teacher for many years. Dana has trained with YoKid and her goals include sharing the knowledge and loving-kindness others have given her over the years, as well as helping families benefit from all aspects of yoga. Debbi Pierce   Debbi’s yoga journey is continually unfolding. She has been fortunate to have inspirational teachers. She enjoys expanding her practice under teachers as well as alongside her students. She has studied with many Sun & Moon teachers as well as Baxter Bell, Erich Schiffmann, Doug Keller & Kira Ryder. Debbi enjoys learning new techniques and sharing them with her class. She encourages her students to be mindful in their yoga practice - to listen and honor what their bodies need. Deborah Sheetz   Debbie considers herself to be a perpetual student of yoga, having begun her practice in 1992 with plans to continue until at least age 100! She sees yoga as an ongoing learning process that can take one ever further toward an increasingly peaceful mind, easeful body, and useful life. Debbie is certified by Satchidananda Ashram - Yogaville to teach Integral Yoga Hatha and stress management at the beginner and intermediate levels and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level. She especially loves to share the power of pranayama, meditation, and chant in addition to yoga asanas for all levels of practitioners. Students can expect to leave class feeling lighter in body and calmer in mind.
Deborah Hertz   Deb is Sun & Moon Yoga trained and has been practicing yoga since 2004. As a relatively new mom, Deb started taking yoga to find some solace and found so much more.  She teaches with humor to share the gifts yoga continues to give her:  clarity, strength, flexibility, inner calmness, self awareness and acceptance.  Her classes focus on being gentle with yourself while integrating yoga into our daily lives to create balance.
Dena Jensen   Dena Jensen delights in sharing her love of yoga with her students. She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and is certified through Sun & Moon. Her strong home practice and her studies with both local and national teachers informs her classes. Dena's teachings center around combining breath, awareness, and movement in order to experience the state of yoga both on and off the mat.
Diana Davidson   Diana discovered yoga through her own personal journey to restored health and became a certified teacher through Sun & Moon's In-Depth 200 hour Foundations program. She is motivated to work patiently with those new to yoga so they may find their own sense of restoration and further their personal growth.
Enid Kassner   Enid Kassner is Sun & Moon certified. Her teaching style promotes a sensitive exploration of the inner experience of yoga in a light-hearted encouraging environment in which students can progress at their own pace.
Faith Halter   Faith Halter is certified at 500 hours as a yoga teacher, yoga therapist and Laughter Yoga leader. Faith brings humor and a relaxed, friendly approach to her teaching, along with a focus on alignment and inner stability. She welcomes questions and requests as we playfully explore together how to apply our yoga practice “off the mat” so we can move through life with more ease and grace. This issue deeply engages Faith in her personal life and also her professional work as a leadership, life and ADHD coach, as well as in her formal yoga practices.
Frank Wooldridge   Frank Wooldridge has a mindfulness-based, active practice that blends the essential elements of Hatha yoga with innovative techniques found in the Anusara, Yin/Yang, and Tibetan Yoga traditions. He encourages students to focus on the energy in each pose and awareness of their bodies as a path to gain insight into their practice. He teaches vipassana meditation. Frank is a Relax & Renew trainer and is studying therapeutic yoga for MS patients.
Garrett Phelan   Garrett Phelan, a mindfulness meditation practitioner for more than 13 years with Anh-Huong Nguyen and Thu Nguyen, was ordained a lay member of the order of Tiep Hien in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. Garrett believes if we can create in ourseleves quiet and peace in our mindfulness meditation practice, we can touch that quiet and peace within ourselves, anywhere and at anytime.
Heidi Panetta   Heidi Kline Panetta did her teacher training at Sun&Moon. Heidi believes yoga is both fun and transformative, when we take the chance to stretch our bodies and our minds. She enjoys sharing her love of yoga with her students, especially beginners.
Helene Hammer   Helene Hammer credits yoga with helping her find calm, clarity and joy in her hectic life. She has been teaching in public schools since 1978 and practicing yoga since the year 2000. Helene is certified through Kripalu and Radiant Child. Her style is fun and playful, encouraging students to notice sensations without judgement and let go of stress.
Hope Lambert   As an actress and teaching artist, Hope stumbled into her first yoga class in 1999 in hopes of managing her increasing stage fright and anxiety. Compelled by the benefits of yoga practice, she discovered the grounding joy of a daily Mysore practice in 2007 and has been a Mysore student ever since. She is grateful to the inspiring teachers who have shared their wisdom and practice with her: David Keil; Keith Moore; and Tova Steiner. Hope holds an E-RYT 200 certification through Yoga Alliance.
Jackie Shaffer   Jackie Shaffer has been practicing hatha yoga and meditation for more than 20 years. She received her teaching certification at Sun&Moon. Jackie’s teaching reflects the influence of her eclectic hatha studies and her interest in watching students refine their energy and self-awareness.
Jane Phelan   Jane Phelan considers teaching Kripalu-inspired yoga as a deeply joyful, shared journey with her students. Drawing from her mindfulness practice in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, she teaches that each conscious breath brings awareness to our yoga practice to explore connections within ourselves and to the world around us.
Jill Schroeder   Jill Schroeder is an approachable teacher who makes yoga fun and accessible. A longtime yogi who is Sun & Moon certified, she has practiced many different styles of yoga and likes to incorporate the various influences of her many teachers. In leading her classes, Jill hopes to connect with students, provide guidance and acceptance, and help students find the peace within.
John Sherburne   John graduated from Sun & Moon's In-Depth program and is a Yoga Alliance certified RYT-200. He began his study of T'ai chi ch'uan at Great River Taoist Center in 1995 and has taught it since 1999. While he teaches yoga and T'ai chi as distinct arts with their own traditions and lineages, he sees both as a continuum of mind-body practice emphasizing breath, mental focus and self-awareness - teaching from the perspective when appropriate.
Jon Waterman   Jon Waterman began practicing yoga and meditation while teaching the martial arts in the early seventies. He has received teacher trainings in Vipassana (insight meditation) from Bhante Gunaratana and in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from Jon Kabat-Zinn. The theme of Jon’s classes and workshops is “Connecting the Moments" by gently cultivating mindfulness both on and off the cushion.
Judith Lyon   Judith Lyon is an artist and art historian, formerly on the curatorial staff of the Phillips Collection. She has been a student of eastern philosophy and meditation for over 30 years. Her classes are based on the teachings of classical hatha yoga as expressed by B.K.S. Iyengar and Sri Swami Satchidananda, by whom she is certified. Judith has been teaching in the Washington area for nearly 20 years, having established the yoga program at the NIH. Judith has dedicated her life's work to the well-being and health of others.
Julia Hughes   Julia began practicing Pilates in 2008. She finds the total mind, body, and spirit workout revitalizing and energizing! Now a Peak Pilates Level I instructor, Julia's style of teaching tends towards Classical, focusing on the exercises, order, and transitions. Karin Caffi   Karin is grateful to, and continues to be inspired by, her fabulous colleagues and students here at Sun & Moon. She strives to create a welcoming, non-competitive class, where students can expect to enjoy breathing, stretching, and flowing sequences set to great music. Kate Rudacille   Kate has been practicing at Sun & Moon since 2003, and completed the 200-hour Foundations program at Sun & Moon's In-Depth Studies and Teacher Training in 2012/13. She believes yoga is for every Body, and that through their practice, students will find just what they need on any given day—the perfect combination of stimulation and relaxation. She wants to help others connect with themselves by being fully in their body and opening their minds through breath attention, mindful movement, and intentional stillness.
Kathryn Dame   Kat Dame is Sun & Moon trained and began practicing yoga more than 10 years ago. She has a passion to share the greatness and love that is yoga. Her style of teaching is fun, non-competitive, and non-judgmental. She likes to foster an environment of mindfulness and ease while also maintaining a sense of calm and light-heartedness.
Kristin Heinz   Kristin teaches a vinyasa style class, which helps students find stillness in their minds and playfulness in their bodies by connecting movement with breath. Infusing her class with hands-on assisting, inspiring music, and thoughtful readings, she creates a nurturing environment to explore, to heal, and to grow. She is a graduate of a Yoga Alliance certified program.
Laura McCarty   Laura McCarty is Sun & Moon certified. Laura promotes "body indifference" - It's not about feeling good about yourself but feeling good within. It's from within that goodness expands. When you find a place of peace in the body, your yoga practice comes alive.

Lisa Gunther   Lisa experiences yoga as an exploration and a journey to self, and is constantly amazed by what is uncovered on the yogic path. Each day, each pose, and each breath provide the gifts of new perspective and deeper connection. Lisa shares this sense of discovery and joy with others as she guides through them the delightful practice of yoga. A student of the many fabulous and inspirational Sun & Moon teachers for over 13 years, Lisa received her certification through Sun & Moon's In-Depth program in 2013.
Lydia Teinfalt   Lydia discovered yoga in 2004 when she was pregnant with her first child. She was looking for an alternative to step aerobics and took a prenatal Ashtanga class on a whim. The rigorous nature of the class and the emphasis placed on breath appealed to her right from the start, and she has since embraced the practice and philosophy. Lydia appreciates the wholeness of the yoga system in enhancing physical, mental and emotional health. As a graduate of US1 Yoga school, Lydia rounded her yoga education with instruction in Ashtanga, Iyengar and Viniyoga systems. Her teaching style is to encourage her students to move through their yoga practice with awareness and to see yoga as a lifelong practice. Off the mat, Lydia enjoys cooking with her husband and spending time with her daughter and son.
Lynne Bauer   Lynne trained at Sun & Moon and in 2003 received her Certification as a Laban Movement Analyst and Registration as a Somatic Movement Therapist from ISMETA. She is the Director of a movement therapy company called DanceAbilities for individuals with special needs. Yoga has deepened Lynne's passion for guiding others to find their own balance in life through the joy of easeful movement. She encourages playfulness within yoga to de-stress, relax, and awaken to a forgiving and grounded authentic self!
Lynne Dreyer   Yoga has been Lynne's constant companion since the early 1970s. She is certified in both Hatha and Kundalini. Yoga has taught her and she has taught yoga to various populations and age groups throughout the years, as a Recreation Therapist and now on her own. She loves teaching those new to the practice, and those who have been with it longer. Her classes are grounded in acceptance and humor, giving space for the student to relax into their own awareness.
Madeline Helbraun   Madeline has been certified in the Feldenkrais Method for over 20 years. She is also a physical therapist and an avid west coast swing dancer. She is especially interested in how shifting our state of awareness affects us physically.
Maureen Vasquez   Maureen has been a student of yoga since 1995. She received her certification through the Sun&Moon Teacher Training Program and is continuing her studies in Sun & Moon’s 700 hour and Yoga Therapeutics Programs. Maureen’s light-hearted style encourages students to enjoy exploration through attention to their bodies and the breath.
Melanie Mustone   Melanie Mustone completed The Health Advantage Yoga Center's teacher training certificate program. In 2010, she participated in the OmMama Prenatal Yoga teacher training with Leslie Lytle in Richmond, Virginia. Melanie wishes to share the renewing benefits a yoga practice brings to life.

Melinda Hofstetter   Melinda has her 200-hour teacher and 85-hour prenatal teaching certifications. After 20 years in the Marine Corps, the transition from Marine to dedicated yoga teacher might seem unusual, but was a natural one for her. She strives to guide her students to grow toward physical well-being and self-discovery while emphasizing postures in terms of what is right and safe for each individual. Your size, age, and background don’t matter on your yoga journey! Melinda also emphasizes alignment, core strength, and fluidity that she’s learned from her love of dance. Her favorite saying is “We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing" said by George B. Shaw.
Molly Field   Molly Field has loved yoga since her first svasana at S&MYS in 1999 and has long preached the benefits of the growth which comes from knowing one’s self inside and out. Molly is a writer and introspective seeker who brings gratitude, humor and youth to her practices. Appreciative of the yin and yang in all of us, Molly works to encourage others to listen to their bodies and their faithful inner knowing. Nirinjan Devi   Nirinjan Devi (Zahra) is a certified Power Pilates teacher, 500 hour registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.and joyful student of Life. Her contagious joy and enthusiasm offer a supportive, inclusive environment for self-exploration. Nirinjan brings both playfulness and light-heartedness to her classes. Nirinjan began her love for Yoga and fitness early in life. Nirinjan honors all the radiant teachers that she has had and continues to study with.
Noralea Dalkin   Noralea Dalkin has completed teacher certification programs at The Health Advantage Yoga Center and Satchidananda Ashram. In April of 2009 Noralea completed the Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors certificate program through Duke Intergrative Medicine. She encourages students to breath and notice the changes and relaxation that yoga brings to their body, mind and spirit.
Patricia Pao   Patricia Pao (E-RTY 200) has been teaching yoga for over 12 years and currently teaches at Sun & Moon Yoga and Health Advantage Yoga. She completed The Health Advantage Yoga Center teacher training program, The Radiant Child TT Program, Yoga 4 Teens & Yin Yoga Teacher Training programs. She is also a Relax and Renew Trainer®. Pat is a former professional dancer, ballet teacher and movie casting director. She has had the great privilege of studying with many wonderful yoga teachers and enjoys bringing their numerous gifts to her classes and workshops.
Pauline Howard   Pauline Howard is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, having completed her teacher certification at Sun & Moon’s 300-hour teacher training program. Pauline has an MA in counseling and is known for her calm and supportive teaching style. She teaches Gentle, All Levels and Prenatal yoga and plans to add Seniors’ classes to her repertoire in the very near future.
Raima Larter   Raima has been practicing yoga since the early 1990s and is a graduate of Sun & Moon’s teacher training program at the RYT-200 level. Raima draws on her extensive background in Iyengar yoga to develop classes solidly grounded in proper alignment techniques. She works to help each student discover unconscious holding patterns that can lead to stress, tension or, sometimes, even injury or disease while maintaining an atmosphere of fun and playful exploration.
Rixie Dennison   Rixie Dennison is a Sun & Moon certified yoga instructor, a Holistic Life Coach, and Reflexology and Reiki practitioner. Her gentle, yet energetic approach to yoga enables students to explore their mind, body, spirit connection in a safe, non-judgmental environment. She blends her knowledge of the Chakras and yoga philosophy into her classes. Always with a smile, Rixie's unique approach to teaching moves everyone to a more balanced place in their lives.
Roger Panetta   Roger did his teacher training at Sun & Moon. Roger's style is deliberative and focused with an emphasis on students becoming calmer and more aware in their daily life.
Ruth Ann Lowery   Ruth Ann enjoys creating classes that meet each student where they are, leading them on a journey of first peeling away the stress of the week through relaxation, meditation and conscious breathing, and then developing greater flexibility, balance, strength and awareness of alignment. Ruth Ann completed the 200-hour teacher training program at Sun & Moon in 2011, having personally experienced yoga as a powerful force on many levels through a decade of practice. She is energized by sharing yoga and enjoys helping students hone their own personalized practices.

Satya Prakash   After practicing yoga for many years, Satya settled on Kundalini Yoga to teach and as her main yoga of practice. She feels it has been transformational in every aspect of her life. Satya is also a certified Reiki Master and enjoys incorporating this energy work when she practices both reflexology and yoga.

Susie Crate   Susie Crate has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and is a Sun & Moon certified teacher. Susie’s approach to teaching and to her students is “Yoga is for everyone. If you breathe, you can do yoga.” She strives to help students come into their bodies to find balance of body, mind and spirit and to teach the subtle development of poise, balance and strength.
Suzanne Morgan   Suzanne is certified with 700 hours at Sun & Moon. Her goal is to help students with self-acceptance and to find joy in the moment. These concepts have helped her to find a balanced path in her own life as the president of Print Buyers

Sylvia Cacciato   Embracing change was Sylvia’s first lesson from yoga over a decade ago. Discovering it awakened a sense of peace and joy that eventually led to her children’s yoga certifications through YoKid and Radiant Child. Sylvia later received training through Sun & Moon’s In-Depth Yoga Program, and prenatal training through Blooma. Inspired by several influences, her approach is rooted in the belief that a personal exploration of practice is accessible to everyone. For Sylvia, yoga is a never-ending circle of giving and receiving that sustains and unites us on and off the mat; she hopes to pass this inspiration onto students of all ages during her classes.
Terri Surabian   Terri, a student at Sun & Moon since 2000, is grateful for the opportunity to share the joy of yoga with her students. Terry Strayer   Terry Strayer shares her love of yoga with the play of breath and movement. Creating a space that encourages students to explore yoga from their bodies and self in the breath of the moment. Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and therapy-influenced classes contain specific asanas to be taught throughout a session. Always student-oriented makes the yoga personal in hopes of carrying it off the mat into the next moment for joy, wellness, comfort, peace.

Tova Steiner   Tova Steiner began her practice of Ashtanga Yoga in Portland Oregon in 2003 with Casey Palmer, and she has maintained a daily practice ever since. Over the following years she took workshops in alignment and adjustments with Tiffany Cruikshank and David Swenson, and began teaching in 2006. In 2009 Tova made what she thought would be her only trip to Mysore, India to study at the source of ashtanga yoga. That first trip has now turned into three trips and in January 2012 she was given level 2 authorization to teach, by Sharath Jois, the director of the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. In addition to R. Sharath, Tova has had the opportunity to study with many amazing teachers. Currently she has the great blessing to receive guidance from Angela Jamison, David Keil, and Eddie Stern, both in her asana practice and her teaching practice. In June of 2011 Tova began a meditation practice with a ten day silent Vipassana retreat. She maintains a daily meditation practice and strongly encourages her students to do so as well. Tova strives to teach in the manner she has been taught: with warmth, patience, and dedication, and to maintain true to the system as it continues to be taught at the KPJAYI.
Vicki Christian   Vicki Christian E–RYT-300, RPYT, a Sun & Moon Yoga Studio certified instructor, registered with Yoga Alliance, and prenatal certified with Leslie Lytle of Richmond, VA. On a yoga journey since first picking up the book Yoga The Iyengar Way in 1989, still a yoga student, and has been teaching since 2004. Classes are balanced, energizing classes, which allow each student to discover and enjoy yoga within their ability, and encourage connection, alignment, breath, and relaxation within the practice and life.
